Chevy Camaro ZL1

“Holy Muscle Car!” is all I have to say about the Camaro ZL1.  With its 650 horsepower supercharged V8 which was adapted from the Corvette, this is all you could hope for in true American grit!  The handling is tight and the ride is comfortable - at least in the front seat.  I don’t think I’d enjoy riding in the back seat too much as it looked cramped enough even for my 5 foot 8 inch frame.

The ZL1 comes equipped with adjustable suspension, extreme performance tires, and carbon fiber additions that make this car look and ride terrific.  The Camaro is offered with either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.  Both l are equally impressive though I lean toward the six speed as I find it more fun to drive.

All of the controls are exactly where they should be and, as a prior owner of a 1967 Camaro, I have to tip my hat to the attention to detail Chevy paid to making this true to its roots.  They left our all the rattles that were a part of the original edition.  The seats are comfortable and supportive as you push this car to its highway exit ramp limits.  It corners well and you have to love the rear wheel drive.

I understand Chevy has announced this will be the last year of production for the Camaro (at least the gas version).  I haven’t seen the plans unveiled for a successor yet so now may be the time to secure yours.  There may be a limited edition version released in 2024 but I’m sure those will be hard to find.
